A Guide to Our Rattan Materials
We craft our products using a selection of premium, natural rattan materials, each chosen for its unique properties and contribution to the final piece. Our commitment to quality and authenticity is reflected in our use of both standard and exclusive native varieties.
1. Rattan Core
This is the solid, inner part of the rattan vine, machine cut into round core about 1cm in diameter, flexible strips. It is the workhorse of rattan contruction, prized for its strength and pliability. We use it to create the sturdy, woven framework of our table lamps, wall sconce, providing structure and a classic, textured look.
2. Rattan Wicker (2mm, 3mm, 4mm)
Also known as rattan peel, this is the inner part of the rattan vine in tiny strip, meticulously split into fine, round strands.
This material is used for detailed wrapping, binding, and fine weaving. Our selection of 2mm, 3mm, and 4mm diameters allows for incredible versatility:
· 2mm: Ideal for the most delicate and intricate patterns.
· 3mm & 4mm: Perfect for standard weaving, lashing joints securely, and adding robust decorative accents.
3. Arorog (Native Philippine Rattan)
Arorog is a special, organic rattan native to the Philippines. It is a cherished material known for its exceptional durability and unique character.
We use Arorog for its superior strength and beautiful, natural grain. Sourcing this native vine supports local communities and gives our products an authentic, artisanal heritage that cannot be replicated.
4. Natural Rattan Skin
Also called rattan peel- is the outermost layer of the rattan vine. It is carefully stripped, dried, and processed into long, flexible strips.
The natural surface is tough and resistant to wear. Ideal for tight weaving and binding. Easy to handle and work with. Has natural coulur tones; creamy, honey, or light beige shades that age beautifully. Eco-friendly; 100% natural, biodegradable, and sustainably harvested.
By combining these materials, we achieve a perfect balance of strength, beauty, and artistry in every piece we create.
